As Roman soldiers would participate in an oath of allegiance reaffirming obedience and faithfulness to their leaders, so do we as we participate in communion, but reaffirming our covenant with the most High God. When we get married, we also express outwardly the inward decision we already have made. Just as well, we express outwardly our inner transformation when we are baptized. These are some examples of the sacraments that are part of our method, that is, the group of traditions adopted by us Methodists to express and renew our love for the living God.
