Looking back at some hymns and the transition of Christian music into the 1900s, lay speaker leader Margaret Mills reminds us of God's paternity, second to none. Even when one gets to the extreme of saying to God "I hate you", He loves us like we are, sinners by nature, in need of forgiveness, redemption, and transformation. It's only upon receiving Jesus Christ as our only and sufficient Lord and Savior that we become able to love Him above all things and above ourselves, subsequently loving ourselves and our neighbors. Then, being forgiven by Him and forgiving ourselves and one another, He delivers us from the yoke of anger, anxiety, and negative attitude, to name a few.
